Spring Preparation of Your Vehicle
Spring is almost here and it is time to think about how you can best prepare your vehicle for it. In the following article, you will find the most important things that you need to do in order to know you are ready for the warmer weather.Change the tires
If you were using winter tires during the winter you will need to change them because they are not appropriate for the conditions that spring brings. If you were using all-season tires you might not need to change them. However, that would depend on the tread, you will need to check if it is sufficient to have a good grip on the road. If they do not, you will need to change them with new ones. In any case, you absolutely have to check if the alignment of the wheels is as it should be.
Oil and fluids change
As always, an oil change is a must. Along with that, you should check the rest of the fluids that your car uses, such as brake and transmission fluid. Have in mind that they might just need to be topped off, but there is a possibility that the systems might need to be flushed. A professional mechanic would be able to determine with absolute certainty if you don’t feel comfortable deciding on your own.
Wash and wax your vehicle
It might not look as important to you but it is, especially after the winter. The salt that is used on the roads throughout the winter is not good for your car, which is why you will need to wash it off very well. You do not want it staying where it is and compromising your paint and undercarriage.
Check Brakes
After the harsh conditions of the winter, it is never a bad idea to check if everything is alright with the brakes of the vehicle. If you are performing the check yourself, pay special attention to these two components – brake pads and brake discs. If you feel unqualified to do it yourself, you can ask a mechanic when you are getting other services done at an auto repair center.
Check the condition of the battery
Winter can have dire consequences on your car battery because it works harder than usual. The battery is likely to drain faster. You will need to find a trusted auto repair shop to check the battery for you, it might need to be charged, or changed altogether.
Change the windshield wiper blades
Winter conditions such as snow and ice can be damaging to the vehicle’s wiper blades. In addition to that, wiper blades don’t last forever, they have an expiration date. Odds are you will need to change them before the spring. If you decide to change them yourself, be careful when you buy new ones, you will need to get the right size of wiper blades for your make and model.
If you don’t feel like doing all of those checks and maintenance processes, you can find yourself a trusted auto repair center and let them take thorough care of your vehicle.
